Blackie has an amazingly soulful temperament and is such a gentleman. We think he is about 2-4 years old and weighs 45 pounds. He is so friendly with people and the dogs that we have seen him with, though cautious. His foster has this to say: Blackie really wants to be loved and feel safe. His ideal spot is his head on on your lap and getting pets. Very cautious in the house and moves slowly as he is getting adjusted. Pretty low energy, no aggression, no jumping, no barking and temperament has been very calm. I believe he really will continue to come out of his shell as he gets more comfortable and trusts me. Amazingly, I would say he is house-trained. No accidents at all. He was VERY skitish and flighthy for the first day outside and we did not leave my gated building. I took a chance today and took him out to the sidewaks and I can’t believe the difference. He is good on the leash, he walks slowly and next to me; zero pulling. We have been going out 3-4 times throughout the day. He does not seem phased by loud noises, cars or the wind. He’s cautious if people are walking but there is zero agression. He does not seem to be food motivated – positive reinforcement and excited love is all he needs.
He has a good relationship with Jazzy. He doesn’t necessarily play with her, as she has more energy, but he lets her annoy him and kiss him and they will cuddle together. No food aggression from either. I think he would really love to be the only dog though and get all the attention and love in his older years.
