Mountain Mike, a creamy little guy with pashmina fur, is a chi of all trades. He positively reeks of competency and common sense. He appears to have nerves of steel and a very dry sense of humor. You kind of get the feeling he’s operated heavy machinery or rescued hostages, or maybe jumped from planes? Nothing bugs him, he gets along with everybody. He’s patient, mellow, eerily polite. His ears – tiny little golden arches – hint at his capacity for goofy sweetness, which make him a classic all-rounder. Perfectionists! Come on down! Here’s some notes from his foster:Mountain Mikes is a confident yet chill dog who wants to be in the same room or within eyesight of his human.Once we left Muttville, Mike immediately jumped in the car and was comfortable on my lap in the passenger seat. He loved looking out the window, and had no issues with traffic, people or dogs in other cars.He walked into the building like he owned the place. He avoided the 2 stairs in the lobby and preferred to use the wheelchair ramp. I took him for two walks on Tuesday in Polk street. Mike was unfazed by the cars, noise, people and pets. He actually seemed more energized when walking down a busy street and peeking into each store/doorway as we walked by- perhaps reliving his past life as a stray? He does not like walking up hills and peters out around 3-4 blocks. He’s very respectful indoors. Did some quick sniffs around the house but really doesn’t get into anything. I opened the door on my balcony and he patiently sits on the threshold and smells, but refuses to step outside unless I go out too. He loves climbing on the top of my couch and looking out the window. I think he may be part cat!Mountain Mike is shy at first taking his time to get to know you, but once he starts to build trust with you, you’ve found your best friend. We call him a lover because he loves to snuggle with you and looks at you with the most loving eyes. He is very intelligent and even knows sit and paw! We believe he is somewhat potty trained. He will not have an accident if you take him to pee on a schedule. At least three times a day (morning, mid-day, night). He seems to be fine with anyone, he lets children pet him and both men and women. We believe he would do best in a home without a cat. When he sees cats he barks and whines at them.He so far has had no issues with being left alone. We have a camera to watch our dog and he may whine softly for a bit but then settle down and go to sleep. We have left him in a crate to test if is at all crate trained and he seems to not mind it and finds comfort in an open crate. He will go into his crate if he ever needs some alone time. He is a very patient dog.He still has a bit of energy left in him and enjoys going for walks. He does fine with stairs. On walks he enjoys saying hi to other dogs. So far haven’t had much of an issue with barking during walks, he’s only barked twice when a dog barked at him.We had to run a lot of walking errands yesterday (2+miles) so I padded my shopping cart with a pillow for when Mike was getting tired or hesitant about a hill. He was a good boy while I rolled him around. He loved meeting new people and exploring more streets in the city!Overall Mountain Mike is an amazing dog that is ready to be loved and cuddled. He is very adaptable and is the ultimate chihuahua.
