Meet Sasha - a 15 month old, Border Collie mix, who weighs 66 pounds (as of 5/19/25). Sasha was found as a stray with her sister, Simba. These beauties are had been hoping to find a family to call their own by the holidays - but they are still waiting having been posted on our site for SIX MONTHS already :(

Simba is now adopted, let's get Sasha a new home!

Update from her Northern Foster: She’s super sweet and affectionate. She’s a big girl, but she is extremely gentle for her age and size. Definitely not a “bull in a china shop” that some young big dogs can be. She gets along well with our resident dogs and especially loves the kids. She seeks them out often and follows them around. She’ll entertain herself with toys, though she’d much rather play with a doggy friend (our dogs are still warming up to playing with her since she’s bigger than them but she is so politely trying!). She wants to say hi to everybody she meets and does so gently. She also rides in the car great. She's housebroken as well! She’s a great dog who will blend into any family.

Her foster shares: "Sasha will make a wonderful addition to any loving family! She a total love bug who is very affectionate... she enjoys attention and loves to be cuddled. She's always very curious about her surroundings. Sasha loves playing outside with her doggy friends. She likes water and swimming! She enjoys time in her crate and goes in willingly when she knows it's time for dinner at 5pm! She'll practically walk herself in and wait patiently. Since she's still a young pup, she loves playing with her chew toys which are a great distraction. We think Sasha would do well with another dog in the family as a resident BFF. While she has not been around young children, she's so sweet and would definitely do well with school-aged kids."

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
