Meet the AUBURN pups! These dogs are bold, beautiful, and will add so much joy to your life. Their hearts are as warm as their last name, and they will be sure to light up your world!
Meet Odin Auburn.
This seven month old boy was rescued here locally from neglect and starvation. And despite this he is the nicest boy. And he takes food so incredibly gentle. At roughly 40lbs (as of 12/21/24) he is the perfect size to join his furever family on adventures. Odin loves other dogs of all ages and sizes. He is social and enjoys making new friends. At our recent adoption event, Odin was a hit meeting families with and without kids. He has ears for days that are just the cutest. And the best head tilt! And although his scars may hold the stories of his past, this happy boy has forgotten the past and is eager to be part of a loving family!
UPDATE from Odin's foster family: Odin is a really good dog and very social. He is an energetic boy who loves to run and jump and play. He is always excited to greet his people, even if they've just been upstairs for a few minutes! He makes you feel very loved!!! He would benefit from a home with another active dog to play with and/or a family that will spend a lot of time outdoors with him. He is crate-trained and doesn't mind chilling in his crate when you have to run errands. He is housebroken as well, though he has a small quirk that he is hesitant to poop alone, which means he can't yet be consistently expected to do that unless a person is outside with him (small price to pay for a housetrained dog). He consistently goes to the door, rings our bells, and whines when he needs to go outside.
While in public, Odin is really good about greeting people and very happy to receive pets and attention from anyone who will give it. At home, he gets a little more nervous about visitors, and barks at people who don't live there. We are trying to set him up for success by having him in a quiet place when people arrive at the house and then letting him come out when everyone is in and settled. He is very interested in food, and will actively try to take anything edible he can, though he's also getting better about backing off when we tell him to. Chew toys will be a must in his new home! He loves the ones we have here, especially if they squeak.
He is very smart and very treat-motivated. I think that if he's given the chance to run through an obedience school, he'll really outshine a lot of the other dogs in his class. He just needs someone devoted to giving him training and structure and his best self will surely come through!
He's a big sweetheart, and wants to love and be with his people as much as possible. I think he'll make a great dog, especially for an active family willing to guide him through the last bits of his training. We know you won't regret the time you put into making Odin confident, happy, and your forever friend!
We know they have lots of love to give and we can't wait to help them all find their forever homes!
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.
Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
