Like a Raven flying high, this guy is sure to soar into your hearts!

Meet Raven - a 2 year old, Catahoula Leopard Dog / Lab mix, who weighs about 50 pounds (as of 12/9/24). Raven was pulled form a local shelter after being found on the streets as a stray. He was homeless before entering a rural state pound, and we pulled him into our rescue so we could give him an extra boost and hopefully help him find his forever home!

UPDATE from Raven's new foster family: Raven is now in a foster home with a family (including an 11yr child). Raven is LOVING being inside with people who love him. Raven is house trained and gets along fine with a female Boxer, q male GSD, a female tripod Dachshund, and a young Doodle dog with whom he loves to run and play in the fenced in yard. Getting in some daily exercise is important! Raven also does well with the family cats, just sniffed them and followed them around a bit and that was the end of his interest in them.

Raven also likes to snuggle in the laps of his people and to take long naps. He is free in the home to sleep where he chooses and has not chewed or destroyed anything. He truly is a great dog!

His foster shares: "Raven is such a handsome guy and his markings are exquisite! We know this guy would really like to have his own family and especially a family who would bring him on fun adventures and want to snuggle up with him at the end of a long day. Raven is great with other dogs, people, and even cats, too! We've been working with him on basic training commands and he is catching on quickly. He also appears to be housebroken and hasn't had any accidents indoors! We know he'll make a wonderful companion and loyal pup to one lucky person (or family)!"

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
