Meet Cosmo - an adorable, 6 month old, Shepherd / Hound mix, who currently weighs 26 pounds (as of 12/21/24). Cosmo was round running around a rural country road with his 3 brothers. No one every came forward to claim this handsome guy, so we're here to help him find his forever family!

His foster shares: "Cosmo is SO handsome and has such beautiful markings. These brothers are very active and are always playing with one another. He does great with the other dogs in our care (ranging from 30 - 60 pounds). Cosmo loves to play with squeaky toys and enjoys splaying around anytime he can find water. He is doing well and learning his leash manners. He spends time in a large kennel when we are at work, and then has freedom to roam in a large fenced in area whenever he can. He knows how to use the doggy door and is proving to be one smart cookie! He's still a pup so he loves to play and would love to have a resident doggy friend to play with which will also hopefully burn some of his energy (not a requirement, though!). He also loves to play with kids and is very sweet and gentle. He's going to make someone or some family incredibly happy - and he'd love to be part of an active household who will bring him on adventures!"

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
