This girl is sweet, smooth, and full of soft love—just like her name!

Meet Kahlua - a sweet, 3 year old Lab/Shepherd mix, who weighs 43 pounds (as of 1/16/25). Kahlua's journey hasn't been easy....she was originally discovered as a pregnant stray, which led her to a shelter. Thankfully, a rescue stepped in to give her a safe place to have her puppies - all of whom have now found loving homes! Now it is her turn.

Kahlua is gentle and shy and she requires a loving supportive home to feel safe and build up her confidence. With the right person who gets her special needs, she will warm up to reveal her soft sweetness! She has no aggression but may tremble when she is feeling insecure. There seems to be an extra shyness with men, so she will need a loving and understanding home who can bolster her timid spirit. Kahlua’s gentle introverted nature benefits from the company of other dogs, the friendlier and more confident the better! She is housebroken, car savvy, and walks great on a leash! While she would happily curl up in a quiet corner of your home, Kahlua needs a special person, someone who sees her potential and has the patience and kindness to give her time.
Kahlua thrives in quiet environments where she can decompress at her own pace. Once she bonds with you and feels your love, she will become a devoted companion, who will treat you as the special person you are! Given her shyness, she would do better with older children or adult only family.

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
