Meet Lucy! This sweet, 2-3-year-old Beagle mix (35lbs as of 1/19/25) has already been through so much, but she’s still waiting for the one thing she deserves most—a family of her own.

Lucy was rescued from the streets of Tennessee when a kind human noticed she was very pregnant and in need of help. Before that, she survived alongside a pack of canine friends behind a grocery store, where she learned to rely on other dogs for comfort and safety. Life inside a home was completely new to her, and at first, she wasn’t sure what to think. But with time, patience, and love, she discovered the joys of cozy beds, regular meals, and snuggles.

Not long after arriving in foster care, Lucy gave birth to a healthy litter of puppies. She was the most devoted mama, caring for them with everything she had. Then came the bittersweet day when her babies went off to their forever families, leaving Lucy behind to wonder—would she ever have a family to call her own?

Lucy is a gentle, soulful girl who just needs someone willing to meet her where she is. She’s shy at first, but once she trusts you, she will steal your heart. She thrives with other dogs, who help her feel safe and confident. That’s why she must have at least one doggy sibling in her home—though the more, the better! In foster care, she’s lived harmoniously with more than just dogs—she became friends with a cat, a lizard, and even a pig!

Though she has a quiet nature, Lucy has joyful, silly moments too! Once comfortable, she’ll zoom around the backyard with her dog friends, some of whom outweigh her by 50 pounds—but she doesn’t seem to notice! She loves to run, chase, and play, ears flopping as she zips past her bigger buddies like she owns the place.

She also has the sweetest little quirks—like her tongue sticking out when she’s sleepy or the funny little grumbles she makes to “talk” to you. She is crate trained and mostly potty trained, and having a crate is essential so she has a safe space to retreat to as she settles in. She's learning that walks are a good thing and is doing quite well with that.

Lucy is worth every ounce of patience—because once she warms up and bonds to you, the love and trust she gives is unlike anything else. Watching her transform from hesitant and unsure to devoted and loving is an experience that will touch your heart in the most special way.
