Meet Mako - an 11 month old, Great Pyrenees / Australian Shepherd mix, who weighs about 76 pounds (as of 11/13/25). Mako was surrendered in Texas when he was a puppy but he's made his way north and is ready to find his forever family!
His foster shares: This guy is amazing! He is extremely affectionate and loves everybody!
He will benefit from training, he is treat and love motivated and should become an awesome family member for anyone willing to dedicate the time to making him the best family member he can be.
He is also incredibly soft! He has a lush coat that would make any girl jealous.
"Mako is a southern gentleman! He's a total love who is incredibly friendly - he loves all dogs and people! He has previously lived with small children and was very sweet with them - but sometimes forgets his size / strength and would do best in a home with older kids. He's currently living with other dogs who are 40+ pounds, and he's doing great with all of them. This boy can be chill, but also playful. He is able to self sooth in his crate, and also loves to go to the dog park and play with his buddies. He knows basic commands, and is house trained but you will need to show him patience when he is settling into his new routine. He's a lovable guy who is ready to start his next chapter with his new family!"
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.
Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted. To learn more about our *shelterless* rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of Frequently Asked Questions on our website at WWW.GDRNE.COM.
