Meet Okie Spot - a 7 month old, German Shorthaired Pointer, who weighs 30 pounds (as of 10/2/25). Okie Spot and his siblings are from Mississippi and is ready to find his forever family!
UPDATE from her foster mom:Okie Spot is a really happy, really fun girl! She is very friendly and greets everyone with a huge smile and wagging tail. She has great energy and enthusiasm and loves to play! She is very curious and really enjoys dog puzzles and brain toys like her snuffle mat. She likes to keep busy!
She’s highly food motivated which is great for training. She already learned Sit and is working on Down. She is 95% potty trained and making progress daily. She sleeps great in her crate all night and always keeps it dry.
She’s good on car rides and quickly learning that means adventure time. She’s been loving her hikes and exploring new trails.
Okie is great with other dogs and is so happy to play. She’s really bouncy and silly when she plays and not too rough. Her zoomies and fantastic jumps make me think she’s be an amazing agility dog.
Her ideal home would have a big fenced yard to let loose in and she would adore a playful dog friend that matches her energy level. I don’t want to underestimate how much she loves her people though.
Okie is the kind of dog that will follow you room to room and patiently wait outside the bathroom door if you don’t let her follow you in. She just wants to be with you! If you are looking for a loving, friendly, fun and adventurous best friend, Okie Spot is your girl!
"Okie Spot is such a beautiful gal! She is the fully package with her striking looks and confidence! Okie Spot would love to find a family who appreciates the outdoors and enjoys going on adventures. She's great with kids and other people and would love to be your co-pilot on adventures.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.
Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
