Open Mic is a talkative little terrier who enjoys engaging in his namesake nights by growling and grumbling into the mic. He promises he’s not being aggressive, it’s his poetry and storytelling, albeit in a form unintelligible to human ears. If you could speak dog, however, we assure you that he’s quite the lyricist. Open Mic has been honing his craft for 9 years, so while he occasionally tries something experimental, he’s usually able to play to his strengths. He’s been endlessly entertaining his canine companions at Muttville; while he’s a bit of a wallflower at first, once you convince him to take the mic, he really flourishes. Open Mic has the gentle, bemused air you would expect from a poet, and he’s looking for a forever home to find new inspiration for his open mic nights. If you think you might have some poem-worthy fodder for this splendid mutt, attend his Open Mic today!Here’s some notes from his foster:From the time it took to drive from Muttville HQs to Brisbane, Open Mic (aka Mike) wentfrom shaking like a leaf to melting into a hot puddle. He was luxuriating in someone’slap when I picked him up from HQ, so it was quite a change for him to suddenly be putinto the car of a stranger. But it only took about ten minutes for Open Mic to start lovingmy pets, and by the time we reached Redwood City, he was standing on my dachshund(MV alum Hot Potato), trying to get a better look at me outside the car.A gentle, “old” soul, I trust Open Mic implicitly around my other pets, including the catsand the rabbits. He settled right in with the whole crew immediately. Open Mic is a lovebug. He’s friendly with other dogs and makes fast friends with people, particularly those that like to give out pets.Open Mic hasn’t attempted the stairs in my home and has a thing or two to learn aboutwalking on a leash. Maybe it’s the stray in him, but he cowers at the sight of a leash.Outside, he simply has his own ideas about where he wants to walk, and whenchallenged, he employs passive-resistance and stands his ground, quite literally. I oftenend up having to pick him up and carry him, which isn’t a problem since he’s so lightand so amenable to being held.At the dog park, Open Mic can be Mr. Independence – walking here, there, andeverywhere, or Mr. Shadow – following me whenever I go. I don’t yet trust him to stickby me in unenclosed spaces. He won’t run away, but he might get too far for comfort.Open Mic really loves people and is open to pets from anyone. He’ll sniff a dog butt ortwo. He’s not shy or afraid and can hang with both big and little dogs. He’ll also stickup for himself when necessary. But he is not at all aggressive or humpy or unfriendly.Open Mic and I instantly became great friends. He’s a fun dog and has a lovingpersonality. He’s a very easy dog to love. He’s a good dog – very sweet and calm. Ican leave him home when I go to work. He doesn’t bark. He sleeps while I’m gone. Hesleeps through the night.
