Meet Milo Meadow - a 1 year old, German Pinscher / German Shepherd mix, who weighed 40 pounds (as of 7/9/25). This boy is from Tennessee and looking for a loving home to call his own!

UPDATE: Are you looking for a dog to call your own but aren’t sure about having to house train a puppy? We’ve got the dog for you. Skip the furniture chewing and messes and go straight to the fun, sweet companion stage with Milo, a one-year-old, 40-pound, neutered male who is the very image of “dog”.

He’s good on leash, good with cats, and a popular instigator of raucous play at the dog park. We suspect he’d be a great running companion (it’s been too hot to test that theory) and has proven himself to be great on a hike.

Milo wants to be a beastie bestie for someone looking for a long walks partner, a good furry nanny for a home with kids, or a strict enforcer for a gardener with a rabbit problem. We just know that this loving, affectionate, flexible doggy is going to make someone a great lifelong companion.

His foster shares: "Who’s a good boy? Milo Meadow is! Milo is our sixth foster dog and, by far, the one who came with the best manners. He’s approximately one year old, a little less than 40 pounds, house trained, good on leash, calm with the cat, good with kids, and Mr. Popular at the dog park. He jumps a bit when he sees the leash out of excitement, but will sit on his own (or at request) when he realizes that’s what it will take to actually get a walk. He isn’t crate trained, but he’s been left alone in the house for up to five hours without any issues and will sleep next to his human's bed. He’s currently trained to stay off couches but wouldn’t argue with you if you wanted to be more lenient. He barks rarely - only when someone comes to the door without warning (and, really, isn’t that what you want a dog to do?). It’s going to be hard to say goodbye to this good and handsome pup, but we know he’ll be a great dog for the right family!"

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
