Meet Opie - a 6 1/2 month old, Boxer mix, who weighs 39 pounds (as of 8/4/25).
This sweet boy was found as a stray, but he holds no grudges! He has a sweet personality and is looking for a forever family to love.

Update from his foster: He’s around 80% house broken we get accidents here and there. I have 5 cats once in a while he might chase one but it’s because he wants to play not with any aggression.
He does really well in a crate but most nights he sleeps in my armpit tbh . Opie loves the water too!

He loves car rides short trips he loves looking out the window and longer ones he just naps until he hears the door open , he would make a fantastic road trip dog. He knows I use a doggy seatbelt and he just sits wags his tail when I clip him in. He has also formed a super close relationship to the other dogs in the house , he would love to get a home with a pup brother or sister.

His foster shares: "Opie is a sweet and loving boy and we know he will make a wonderful family member and / or loving companion. He loves to play with other pups, and curl up in your lap for a snooze. He does great with other dogs, and is loving our other resident dogs. He's still young and will need a family who can help him with his training. But, because he's still young, it means he will quickly adapt to his new home."

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
