Smudge is a 2-year-old Maltese mix who is on a quiet but courageous journey to come out of his shell. Recently transferred from SF Animal Care and Control, Smudge arrived at the shelter completely shut down and overwhelmed by the world around him. Since then, he’s made inspiring progress and is slowly learning that the world isn’t so scary after all.
While Smudge may not be ready just yet for neighborhood walks or couch cuddles, he’s showing us that with time, patience, and love, he has the potential to truly blossom. He finds comfort in the company of other dogs and would thrive in a calm home with a confident, pro-social dog of similar size to show him the ropes and help build his confidence.
