This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally.

Meet Rosie - an approximately 2 year old Shih Tzu mix gal from Georgia who currently weighs 9.6 pounds as of posting on 7/19.

Rosie was a stray gal who came in with a coat that was overgrown and matted in some places and totally missing in others. After a good haircut she is looking very cute isn't she?

Rosie a happy, energetic, and super sweet girl. Her perfect family would provide her with a lot of exercise because she loves to run around. She is very fast and wiggly - so her new family would need to be very aware at the beginning when opening doors to the car and the house and she can sneak right by you she is so little.

She has done well with other dogs in rescue. And she seems housebroken though like with any dog we would expect her to need a little bit of an adjustment period. She is doing well on a leash. Though she does pull a little with her small size that isn't too terrible - though some training would definitely help her skills in that area. She has no experience with kids that we are aware of.

She is really a perfect small dog, and is going to bring a lot of love to a northern family.

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
