Tiny chi ladies of a certain age, Cake and Ice Cream thrive on the kindness and respect that come with their impressive seniority and diminutive stature. Ice Cream is the more adventurous of the pair, though both are quite capable of a refreshing outdoor jaunt, and they warm up to other dogs and people as their shyness gives way to curiosity and confidence. We recommend a polite introduction and some mild discussion of the weather as a good approach – like meeting the queen without the curtseys.
