Spring has sprung! Love is in full bloom with these pups... and, no watering required!
Meet Ivy Spring - an adorable, 6 1/2 month old, German Shepherd mix, who weighs 22 pounds (as of 6/19/25). Ivy Spring and her siblings were born in the mountains of Puerto Rico and were found as abandoned strays when they were about 3 months old.
Her foster mom shares: Ivy Spring is FANTASTIC! She loves to get pets from people (familiar or otherwise, including children). She enjoys playing with other dogs, although it takes a few minutes for her to warm up. She loves toys and plays with them in a Jack Russell style: spunky and fun. She loves my 5 year old yellow lab and he enjoys her as well. I think she could be an only dog or have a doggie sibling. She really enjoys her trips to the dog park and people have commented how much less timid she is after just a few days. Ivy has had no accidents in the 5 days that I have had her, so I would say housebreaking is all set, as long as she stays on a good schedule. She walks pretty well on a leash, and loves to do zoomies in the yard (or in the house when it's too hot outside).
Despite their rough beginnings, the SPRING pups are happy, sociable, playful and well-mannered! They love to run and play outside and once they are finished they take long naps in their crate. They do great around people, children and around other dogs. They are learning to walk well on the leash. The puppies are in excellent health and ready to have a family of their own. Rain or shine, these pups are sure to bring the sunshine into your home and brighten every day!
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.
Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
