POOF! And just like that, these pups are ready to steal your heart!
Meet Hazel Poof - a 2 1/2 month old, Australian Shepherd mix, who weighs 8.6 pounds (as of 5/15/25). Hazel and her siblings were found as strays when they were wandering down a rural country road. Despite being dumped, they are your typical sweet, loving and playful pups!
They are still young and will need families who are committed to their training. But, we know that the Poof pups will be able to adjust quickly to their new families and their lifestyles and will be amazing dogs!
Hazel Poofs foster shares: House breaking is a work in progress, but with a schedule of every two hours and when she wakes up from a nap, we've had no accidents in the past 6 days. She walks well on the leash when there are no loud noises or cars (they give her pause and scare her a bit). She usually settles quickly in her crate and can go 4 hours before needing a bathroom break.
Hazel likes little dogs. With big dogs She prefers to approach them in her own time. If a big dog lays down and waits for her. They will be her best friend in about 5 minutes. She hasn't been tested with cats, but she's still young enough to learn to live with them.
We've had kids over ages 3?13 and she was fine with all of them.
Hazel rides well in the car. She usually just lays down and waits to get where she's going. She knows "sit" and has decent recall. "Lay down" is a work in progress.
Everyone that meets Hazel say she is the sweetest puppy. She can be active, as pups usually are, but has a very calm demeanor as well. Whoever adopts her will have an amazing addition to their home!
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.
Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
