Originally found as a stray in South Carolina, Anastasias past is a bit of a mysterybut what we do know is that shes ready to find a patient, understanding home where she can feel safe and build trust at her own pace. New people and unfamiliar places can be overwhelming for her, so shes looking for someone who can read her body language and knows when to slow things down or step away.
Once Anastasia begins to feel more comfortable, her big personality starts to shine throughsometimes in ways that need a bit of polish! She may jump on people or furniture, pull on the leash, or get a bit pushy with her paws. Shell benefit from consistent, positive guidance to help her learn how to navigate the world with all four paws on the ground.
Anastasia would likely thrive in a quieter neighborhood, and she could do well with a calm, respectful dog friend whos willing to give her time before asking to play. Any children in the home should be comfortable around shy dogs and understand how to interact respectfullyletting Anastasia choose when she wants attention. If you`re ready to take things slow and celebrate the small victories, Anastasia might just be the perfect companion for you.
Stop by Northeast Animal Shelter to meet Anastasia. We have open adoption hours Mon- Wed 11:30am-5pm, Thu-Sun 11:30am-6pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.
Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they are interested in and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.
